Light kayaking 2026
The City of Light event organized by the City of Jyväskylä brings light art works around Lake Jyväsjärvi, on the bridges and in the city, which we go to see by kayaks. Suitable for those of you who visit the City of Light works on foot every year and want to have a new experience every now and then. For those of you who want to try kayaking, you can now go on an easy trip to admire the light art and be a part of it.
The starting point of the trip will be confirmed once the locations of the light art installations are finalized. We’re hoping to go kayaking on the Tourujoki River.
We will become part of the light art by lighting ourselves and our kayaks. The organizer will provide lights on the deck of the kayaks. You can also bring your own light decorations.
Difficulty level of the kayaking trip:
Easy, also suitable for less experienced kayakers. The speed of the kayaking trip is adjusted according to the condition, experience and weather of the kayakers. Participants must be able to swim. Persons under 18 years of age can only participate in kayaking accompanied by a guardian or with written permission. Minimum age 12 years.

Each one lasts about 1.5 hours. Price 55e/person.

Duration:
The duration of the kayaking trip is 1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes and the paddling distance is approximately 3 km.
Safety:
If weather conditions (wind speed over 8 m/s) do not allow the safe implementation of the canoeing trip, we reserve the right to change and, if necessary, shorten the trip program or change the date of the trip. The canoeing instructor, trained by the Finnish Canoeing and Rowing Association, has a valid EA1 & EA2 card, a tourism safety passport (MaTuPa).

Price:
€55/participant. The price includes tax, kayak (kayak unit), life jackets, paddle, hole cover, instructor services and the experience. You will receive an invoice by email closer to the event. You can also pay with sports benefits. Send a photo/receipt of the sports benefit payment to anni@anniliikuttaa.fi. If you want to pay in cash, you can pay on site. Minimum number of participants 4 kayakers. There are 8 seats available per departure.
