

Learn to climb independently on a natural ice fall
Ice climbing is a great way to enjoy winter. Finland has several stunning ice falls, and there are many more in the mountains of the Nordic countries. This course is a smooth continuation of your skills once you have completed the beginner climbing course.

Content: Independent ice climbing on a top rope:
On Saturday you will learn: How to make different climbing anchors: in trees, bolts, and ice screws. We will practice rope descent on ice and go over ice climbing safety issues.
On Sunday you will learn: Review and practice of Saturday's lessons, safe climbing activities in winter, ice climbing techniques, climbing and belaying.

Ice climbing course
The ice climbing course is held over two days, both at Pönttövuori, about 20 km from Jyväskylä. In this course, you will learn how to make anchors in trees, bolts, or ice screws so that you can set up climbing ropes on ice yourself. You will learn to rappel independently and get familiar with the basics of ice climbing. Once you have the skills, you will climb while belaying each other. You can attend this course if you already have the basics, meaning you have taken a top-rope course or know the knots and belaying techniques with various belay devices.

If you have already attended the rock climbing course, you can come directly on Sunday.

The prices include: Lots of information, learning, equipment for the duration of the courses (helmets, harnesses, ropes, ice axes, crampons, ice climbing boots, and other climbing gear), experiences of success, amazing adventures.

The minimum age for the event is 15 years.
Participants are not insured by the organizer, participation is at your own risk. It is a good idea to have your own accident insurance and check if it covers the climb.

All information on the form will be treated confidentially and will only be used for this event.
Cancellation policy: Cancellations made 72 hours before the event are free of charge; after that, cancellations are allowed with a doctor's certificate, otherwise we charge 50% of the course fee. The course organizer reserves the right to cancel the course if the number of participants is insufficient or the weather is unexpectedly poor. The frost limit is around -16 degrees. Rain is not an obstacle.
